Exploring Lavender Teas

Lavender Teas: Lifestyle & Wellbeing

NEW French Lavender Blossoms

We welcome not one but two new herbal teas to our collection: a premium loose French Lavender Blossoms from Provence, and Lemon Verbena and French Lavender tea bags. In this article, we explore where our lavender teas come from, and how best to enjoy them, with expert commentary and easy tea pairing and recipe suggestions.

So simple, and so elegant. Our French Lavender Blossoms are sourced from Provence in France – a world-famous region for producing this beautiful flower. At the height of summer, the landscape is awash with vibrant blossoms, heavy with that intense lavender fragrance, and bustling with biodiversity. We like to imagine this sight and smell as we admire and sip this tea – a bright blue-gold infusion that is thick with essential oils.

Our Lavender Tea comes in loose leaf format so that it can be enjoyed in a glass teapot as it swirls with the water and imparts its colour and flavour. Owing to the high quality of the blossoms, they can be reinfused a number of times.

Lavender is known for its ability to provide calm almost instantaneously and therefore is ideal as part of a night time ritual, helping you to get off to sleep. We like to enjoy it on a lazy Sunday morning or at bath time, too.

NEW Lemon Verbena and Lavender

A blend of natural and organic Lemon Verbena from Paraguay with French Lavender Blossoms from Provence. Together, they create an intensely floral, cooling tea that produces a light green-gold infusion. The essential oils released from the leaves are instantly calming, making each sip as superbly fragrant as it is delicious.

This herbal infusion comes in tea bag format so that you can easily carry them in your pocket or bag should you need an impromptu moment of calm on-the-go, or to offer to a friend.

Lemon Verbena has been long used to aid digestion, where Lavender is commonly known for its sleep-inducing properties. While this tea is enjoyable at any time of the day, it works its wonders best after dinner as part of a nightly wind down ritual.

Wellbeing Benefits of Lavender

You will have noticed that we have used lavender in both of these new teas and that’s because we think it is such a fantastic-tasting flower, and for its effect on overall wellbeing. We spoke with British aromatherapist Jennie Pinkhart, who is based in Cambridge, and runs her own essential oils brand: Eve & Keel. On the subject of lavender, Jennie says:

‘The chemical components of lavender include Linalool and Linalyl Acetate which, together, have been proven in studies to be particularly beneficial for the parasympathetic nervous system. When the body is in a state of stress, lavender pacifies this system which goes on to slow heart rate, hormone function and breathing rate, which can help stop the physical feelings associated with anxiety. This is why lavender is so good for sleep, too, as it draws us into a calmer state overall.

In my approach to aromatherapy, I like to keep an open mind about lavender and not assume that it’s the ideal flower for everyone. In fact, using it too much can have the opposite effect and overstimulate the body, so it works best to really savour it in small amounts – a cup of lavender tea as part of a daily nighttime routine, for example. Each body is different, so it’s important to experiment and explore and intuit what feels good for you. You can do this by setting aside some time each day – fifteen minutes to half an hour – to create and enjoy an intentional moment with essential oil or tea and really pay attention to the way it makes you feel and the effect it has on the body. Then you can choose what you know feels good for you.’
