About Da Fo Long Jing

Vegetal and sweet, Da Fo Long Jing (also known as Dragon Well) is a stunning Chinese green tea. The uniform leaves, resembling flat green spears, infuse to release a nutty aroma with intense chestnut notes and light floral nuances. A low astringency creates a balanced infusion with a long finish and sweet aftertaste.

About Long Jing

Long Jing is a roasted green tea from the area around the village of Longjing near the city of Hangzhou in the eastern Chinese province of Zhejiang. There are various definitions of Longjing; however, a common definition is that true Longjing must at least come from the Zhejiang province in China. Longjing from the Xihu (West Lake) region is considered one of the ten most famous teas in China.

Cultivation

Long Jing Ming Qian Dragon Well green tea is meticulously hand-processed, with the freshly picked leaves being wok-fried for about 20 minutes. This step halts oxidation, preserving the tea's green qualities. The delicate art of wok frying demands a high level of skill, so much of the processing is still done by hand.

Effects

In traditional Chinese medicine, Long Jing is known for its detoxifying effects. The caffeine in Long Jing provides gentle, long-lasting stimulation that improves concentration and wards off fatigue. The tea also contains a high concentration of L-theanine, an amino acid known for its calming properties and ability to reduce stress. Together with numerous antioxidants such as polyphenols and catechins, Long Jing supports the immune system, promotes heart health, and may have anti-inflammatory effects.

How to enjoy

Enjoy alongside rice and fish for a delicious and traditional pairing. Or discover the joy of nutty Long Jing with creamy textures such as goat's cheese, or soft brioche with chocolate.
