About Darjeeling Spring Seeyok

The unique origin and the top-notch FTGFOP1 quality of this Darjeeling Spring Seeyok First Flush tea, combined with excellent processing, results in a richly tinted tea with olive green flecks and delicate, fluffy white tips. The bouquet of this tea is highly aromatic and floral, with notes of young, tangy grapes and warm spring flowers. Subtle hints of sweet strawberry, distinctive muscatel, and a lightly astringent finish round out this harmonious and unforgettable tea experience.

About Darjeeling

Darjeeling is a tea variety from the Indian district of Darjeeling, the centre of Bengali tea cultivation around the city of Darjeeling. Notably, the finer Chinese variety is predominantly grown here, mainly processed into black tea. This gives Darjeeling tea its unmistakable taste among black teas: it is made from a variety usually processed into green tea. Today, green tea production is increasing in Darjeeling, but the region owes its fame to black tea.

Cultivation

This Darjeeling Spring Seeyok tea comes from the Seeyok Tea Garden, one of the oldest certified tea gardens in Darjeeling, established in 1869 and converted to organic farming in 1994. Nestled in the picturesque Mirik Valley on the India-Nepal border, the garden sits at an altitude between 1,100 and 1,800 meters. The fertile terroir, enriched by ample rainfall, provides ideal conditions for growing this exceptional tea.

Effects

Darjeeling tea contains moderate amounts of caffeine, promoting alertness and concentration while also having calming and blood pressure-lowering effects. The high concentration of antioxidants like flavonoids and polyphenols helps neutralize free radicals and reduce the risk of chronic diseases. The tannins in Darjeeling tea aid digestion and contribute to overall health but should be enjoyed in moderation to maintain its positive effects.

How to enjoy

Enjoy our Darjeeling Spring Seeyok in the late morning or early afternoon. Its delicate, aromatic flavour pairs well with a variety of accompaniments such as fine shortbread, fresh baguette with goat cheese, or a mild, creamy cheese. The warm and floral notes also complement a fruit salad with berries, a light vanilla cream, or a slice of apple pie.
