Nong Xiang Tie Guan Yin
About Nong Xiang Tie Guan Yin
A lightly roasted Tie Guan Yin Oolong Tea from Da'tian County, China with pronounced characteristics, including a wonderfully intense floral aroma (Nong Xiang literally means strong fragrance) and a coating mouthfeel with lingering sweetness. These qualities are a result of slightly longer oxidisation and roasting process, resulting in an infusion with a clear taste of orchid, creamy honey and mineral undertones with warming, roasted notes. Pair with buttery desserts, spicy noodles, or roasted meats.
About
Tie Guan Yin is one of the most famous oolong teas in China, loved for its iconic taste. Traditionally, Tie Guan Yin was often more heavily roasted, but these days you can enjoy a range of Tie Guan Yins from a lighter, more floral profile, to a deeper, nuttier one. Our Nong Xiang is for those who like their Tie Guan Yin to taste richer.
Cultivation & Processing
This Nong Xiang oolong is from the Guo Family in Da’tian County who also produce our Jin Guan Yin. They have received accolades nationally for their commitment to producing excellent oolong teas in their gardens at 1100m just outside Ping Shan Village that are in conversion to organic. Mr Guo inherited the business from his father, and generations of his family work together to produce these outstanding teas.
Effects
Oolong teas are prized for their ability to support digestion and metabolism, often coined as a weight loss tea to this effect. We believe that everybody is different, and that oolong tea is a great addition to a balanced diet if you enjoy the delicious nutty taste.
How to Enjoy
Tie Guan Yins have a well-rounded profile that suits them to most foods, particularly spicy dishes which they help to cut through and cool, as well as buttery dishes that the floral and nutty notes of this tea complement. Enjoy alongside brunch or lunch.
