About Organic Beeng Cha Pu Erh Cake

This large tea cake made from aged Organic Beeng Cha Pu Erh offers a well-balanced profile of spicy, fragrant wood and floral aromas, with a slight camphor-like quality complemented by the honeyed taste of ripe pears. The finishing note is dry and lingering. The infusion shimmers in a deep, mahogany-red hue. The tea leaves from the forests of Yunnan are aged for at least a year before being steamed, pressed into the classic "Beeng Cha" cake form, and wrapped in fine paper. A tea for true connoisseurs and gourmets.

About Beeng Cha Pu Erh

Beeng Cha Pu Erh Cake is a traditional form of Pu Erh tea, which has been produced for centuries in Yunnan, China. After harvest, the leaves are steamed and pressed into the classic ""Beeng Cha"" disc form before being wrapped in paper. This process not only preserves the rich aroma of the tea but also allows it to age over many years, becoming increasingly complex and layered. Its unique aging and preparation processes make Pu Erh tea a treasured delicacy among tea lovers. Pu Erh tea ages, much like fine cheese or wine, over many years. The aging process, based on fermentation, typically lasts between five and ten years—and even after that, it continues to develop, adding to the distinctiveness of Pu Erh tea. Some of the most prized varieties are aged for over 70 years.

Cultivation

Pu Erh is a highland region in southwestern China, where tea has been cultivated for over 1,700 years. The most famous cultivation area for Pu Erh tea is the Six Famous Tea Mountains in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan. The unique climate and soil composition create ideal conditions for growing Pu Erh tea, resulting in unique flavour profiles—much like the terroir of fine wine. These mountains, located northeast of the Lancang River (Mekong) and close to each other, are known in Chinese as: Gedeng, Yiwu, Mangzhi, Manzhuan, Yibang, and Y?ulè.

Effects

Pu Erh tea is credited with a variety of positive health benefits. It can lower cholesterol levels, regulate blood pressure, and has a mild appetite-suppressing effect. In China, it is often consumed to support weight loss. Its digestive properties make it ideal after heavy meals, and its antioxidant effects contribute to the body's detoxification process.

How to Enjoy

This Organic Beeng Cha Pu Erh Cake is ideal for special occasions or for enjoying in the late afternoon. Its deep, complex flavour and long-lasting finish make it the perfect companion for savoury snacks like nuts or dried fruits. It also pairs well with dark chocolate or aged cheese, making it a versatile tea for discerning palates. Before serving, it is recommended to carefully break the cake and enjoy the tea in small quantities to fully appreciate its rich aroma.
