Organic Hojicha Powder
About Organic Hojicha Powder
Made from first flush tea leaves and tencha stems that are roasted over charcoal and milled to a fine powder, this Organic Hojicha Powder from Japan is a high quality blend combining teas from Shizouka, Kagoshima and neighbouring Miyazaki. The tea is roasted in Shizuoka by master Inagaki Nobuaki who has been working here for nearly thirty years, surrounded by the deeply delicious aroma of tea being toasted to the perfect taste. The resulting flavour is deeply nutty, like roasted pistachios, and has comforting notes of malt and milky coffee, with a light aroma of plum stone fruit, shining through with comforting character when mixed with milk or a milk alternative. This tea can also be enjoyed with water in Ceremonial Matcha style.
About Shizuoka
Inagaki Nobuaki masterfully roasts the teas in a small factory in Shizouka. He showed us his careful process, roasting the leaves up to three times to achieve just the right balance. With many years of experience, Inagaki has an unbeatable knowledge, and a knack for making the best Hojicha we have ever tried.
Cultivation & Processing
Stems of first flush green tea leaves are roasted slowly over charcoal to create the incredible depth of flavour that hojicha is so loved for. Milled to a fine powder by jet machines, it is then packed with nitrogen into airtight tins to maintain ultimate freshness and quality.
