About Organic Japanese Benifuuki

Organic Japanese Benifuuki\nThis Japanese Benifuuki tea is superbly floral (rose), with fruity notes of lychee and muscatel, with a medium astringency and a touch of toasted malt.

About Benifuuki

A rare organic Japanese black tea from Kirishima, picked early in April at 390m altitude from the first flush of the season. Benifuuki is a hybrid of a Darjeeling cultivar and a Japanese cultivar descended from India.

Cultivation

Benifuuki tea is mainly grown in the Kagoshima Prefecture in Japan. The plants are cultivated in the hills of Kirishima at an altitude of around 390 meters above sea level. This region offers the ideal climatic conditions and the right altitude to develop the characteristic aromas and qualities of this tea.

Effects

Benifuuki tea is particularly interesting due to its potential health benefits. It contains high levels of methyl catechins, associated with various health benefits, among them antioxidant properties and the potential relief of allergy symptoms.

How to enjoy

Enjoy this tea with bittersweet orange marmalade on toast or other breakfast foods such as barley cereal. It pairs beautifully with a light lemon tart or a fresh fruit salad and may also be refined with a touch of honey or a squeeze of lemon. It also makes for an ideal afternoon tea with pastries or a piece of dark chocolate.
