About Tie Guan Yin Roasted

This soothing and warming Tie Guan Yin oolong enchants with its gentle roasted aromas. The small rolls of tea gradually unfurl into large, marbled olive-green leaves, releasing a roasted-sweet fragrance layered with subtle notes of nuts. The infusion appears golden, profoundly aromatic and clear. On the palate, it begins soft and creamy, evolving into mellow honey tones interwoven with buttery herbs and a hint of minerality. Owing to the excellent quality of this tea, it will stand up to multiple infusions, revealing delicate variations with every carefully savoured cup.

About Oolong tea

Oolong tea is a revered Chinese tea variety that bridges the gap between green and black tea, both in flavour and appearance, offering an extraordinary spectrum of tastes. The craft of producing Oolong is intricate, demanding exceptional skill and expertise. Depending on the level of oxidation, Oolong can present a fresh, floral profile akin to green tea or a spiced, piquant character reminiscent of fully fermented black tea. Because of its elaborate production, Oolong is celebrated as a connoisseur's tea.

Cultivation

The leaves for this roasted Tie Guan Yin Oolong tea are sourced from the renowned tea-growing region of Anxi, located in the southern part of Fujian province, China. The combination of a mild climate, high humidity, and nutrient-rich, loamy soils provides excellent conditions for the cultivation of this exquisite tea variety. The tea is cultivated by a family that has specialised in growing this tea for six generations, maintaining traditional methods to preserve the original spirit of this famous tea. The tea is harvested in autumn and oxidised at around 40% before being roasted slowly over charcoal to impart a gently toasted quality.

Effects

Rich in polyphenols, roasted Tie Guan Yin Oolong tea boasts potent antioxidant properties that help neutralise free radicals, potentially slowing ageing and enhancing the immune system. Additionally, Oolong tea is reputed to stimulate metabolism, promote overall well-being, and provide a gentle energy lift while also fostering relaxation.

How to enjoy

This roasted Tie Guan Yin Oolong is perfect for moments of quiet contemplation or as part of a special tea ritual. Its delicate roasted aroma pairs exquisitely with baked delights such as almond biscuits, walnut bread, or dark chocolate. With its complex flavour profile and capacity for multiple infusions, it is an ideal choice for tea aficionados who seek a profound and immersive tea experience.
