About Tropical Rooibos
Long lengths of silky smooth South African Rooibos blended with a touch of natural passionfruit flavour to create a beautiful amber infusion that sings with mellow, fruity notes – an exotic twist on classic Rooibos tea. The aroma of this tea is intense and floral, gently awakening the senses in a pleasant way. The natural passionfruit flavour is subtle, but can be easily enhanced with a touch of sugar or lemon. Rooibos is the only herbal tea that is fully oxidised, imparting the rich depth of a black tea – but without the caffeine.
About Rooibos
Rooibos, also known as red bush tea, originates from South Africa and is made from the leaves of the Aspalathus Linearis plant. The tea is characterised by its mild, sweet flavour with hints of vanilla or nutty undertones and contains no caffeine. There is also a green variant of this tea. Rooibos can be enjoyed hot or cold and is gaining worldwide popularity, particularly due to its caffeine-free nature and pleasant flavour profile.
Cultivation
Rooibos is primarily cultivated in the Cederberg Mountains of the Western Cape region of South Africa. This unique area provides the ideal climatic conditions for the growth of the Aspalathus Linearis plant. The combination of sandy soils and winter rainfall contributes to the distinctive quality of rooibos tea. The plants used for organic rooibos are grown sustainably, without the use of pesticides. After harvesting, the leaves are cut and traditionally fermented in the sun, which gives rooibos its characteristic red colour and mild flavour.
Effects
Rooibos tea is valued for its potential health benefits and pleasant flavour profile. The antioxidants, such as aspalathin and quercetin, can help to neutralise free radicals and exhibit anti-inflammatory effects. Studies suggest that Rooibos may have positive effects on the cardiovascular system, potentially lowering blood pressure and supporting blood vessel health.
How to enjoy
This tropical blend is a delightful companion for sunny afternoons and also makes a refreshing iced tea, served with cool watermelon slices. The tea pairs well with light desserts such as lemon tart, fruit salad, or vanilla pudding. It also harmonises beautifully with mild cheeses like Brie or goat cheese, summer salads with fresh fruits, or grilled salmon and prawns.
