Wild Mountain Mint
About Wild Mountain Mint
This Wild Mountain Mint herbal tea from Armenia is a mint varietal that has the familiar flavour of mint, but with a distinct sage-like quality. The delicate, almost fluffy leaves reveal a vibrant mint aroma in this robust herbal infusion, interwoven with a clear, green-herbaceous note. Subtle hints of pine wood and earth add a unique depth to the tea. The deep golden infusion brings the unadulterated freshness of peppermint directly to the cup, with a deeply comforting feeling in every sip.
About wild mountain mint
Wild mountain mint, also known as Calamint or Common Calamint, is a perennial, long-blooming aromatic plant. Its pale violet flowers grow densely together and are particularly lush. This plant thrives in rocky terrain, on walls, or among scree fields in the mountains. There are about 170 different species in this genus. Calamint is a hardy, herbaceous perennial that adds a refreshing, minty aroma to food and beverages and is also highly valued in herbal medicine.
Cultivation
This rare mountain mint thrives wild in its natural habitat in the Lori region of Armenia, where it is harvested by a small family from alpine meadows on the slopes of the Lalvar mountains at elevations of up to 2,100 metres. This mint is markedly different from other varieties, not only because it is a distinct species of the plant but also due to the wild and untouched growing conditions.
Effects
Wild mountain mint is known for easing nervous tension and inner restlessness. The menthol contained in the mint has a particularly soothing effect and can help alleviate cold symptoms, headaches, and nausea. Calamint is also antispasmodic and has traditionally been used as a digestive aid and diuretic. It is still widely used in modern herbal medicine, particularly for supporting the gastrointestinal tract.
How to enjoy
Wild Mountain Mint Tea is caffeine-free and offers a delightful experience at any time of day. With its refreshing aroma, it evokes the feeling of a walk through nature. It pairs beautifully with light Mediterranean dishes like a tomato-bread salad or goat cheese dishes. It also serves as a perfect evening companion to desserts like lemon mousse or honey yogurt, where it reveals its wonderful herbal notes.
