Imperial Yunnan Golden Buds
About Imperial Yunnan Golden Buds
A rare and elegant Chinese black tea made entirely of golden buds, crafted for those who enjoy exploring the deeper, more delicate side of Yunnan teas. Picked early in the spring season from mature tea bushes in Simao, this tea is beautifully aromatic, with notes of malt, honey, floral perfume and a subtle hint of steamed aubergine. The infusion is golden and velvety, with a smooth, lingering finish.
About
This tea is grown in the Simao region of Pu’er, an area known for its rich biodiversity and long tea heritage. The tea bushes grow at 1200m elevation in the Cuiyun Tea Garden, where cool early spring temperatures and mists help preserve the sweetness and nuance in the young buds.
Cultivation & Processing
Planted with Yunkan No.10, a cultivar known for its mellow body and honeyed aroma, the tea garden produces a consistent, high-grade harvest each spring. Buds are plucked Pre-Qing Ming, in March, and handled gently to maintain their integrity and golden sheen. The processing is light and clean, allowing the natural character of the buds to shine — sweet, malty, and smooth, with no bitterness. The result is a beautifully balanced tea with a thick, coating mouthfeel.
Effects
This is a calming, grounding tea that supports gentle focus. Its smooth texture and low astringency make it easy to enjoy throughout the day. Rich in antioxidants and theanine, it’s both comforting and revitalising.
