Spring Royal Keemun
About Spring Royal Keemun
Our Spring Royal Keemun is a rare first harvest black tea from the traditional Anhui region of China where production of this tea began in 1875. Made from the Qimen Da Hao cultivar this limited tea has an incredibly sweet, honey aroma and creates a beautiful burgundy infusion that has a smooth and full body, with complex notes of cocoa, fruit, and a hint of rose musk. Pair with red meat, mushrooms, or creamy dishes.
About
The Qimen region where this tea is made is in the most southerly point of Anhui where they have been producing Keemun teas for over 150 years, garnering status as one of the world’s most famous black teas and a title of the ‘Queen of Black Tea’ to many. Lower grade keemuns find their way into blends for English Breakfast teas imparting their honeyed, malty fruitiness, whereas higher grades are valued for their smoother, sweeter and more complex flavour profiles.
Cultivation & Processing
Mr Hua produces this tea at an elevation of 600m in tea gardens surrounded by pine and cypress trees, as well as bamboo. Plucking the very first buds of the harvest ensures superb quality and the buds are withered naturally before being pan fired by hand. The skills to produce Keemun have been handed down here over generations.
