Royal Keemun Mao Feng
About Royal Keemun Mao Feng
A legendary tea rooted in tradition, Royal Keemun Mao Feng is a refined Chinese black tea from the high mountain gardens of Qimen in Anhui, eastern China. Crafted from the prized Qimen Da Hao cultivar, it is known for its smooth, velvety body and a delicate balance of floral, malty, and naturally pine-smoky notes. Once one of the first Chinese teas to reach England, it remains celebrated today as one of the top 10 famous teas of China.
About
Often regarded as one of the world’s finest black teas, Royal Keemun Mao Feng is grown in misty, high-altitude gardens where cool temperatures and slow growth enhance the tea's complexity. The name "Mao Feng" refers to the inclusion of young spring buds and leaves, which lend an elegant sweetness and refined character. Expect a rich aroma with hints of orchid, ripe fruit, and a soft undercurrent of smoke.
Cultivation & Processing
Harvested during the first flush of Spring, this tea is made using only the most delicate one-bud-one-leaf sets. After picking, the leaves are withered, gently rolled to preserve their slender shape, oxidised with care, then slowly baked to bring out the tea’s layered aromas. The resulting leaves are long and wiry, with a fine bloom and deep chestnut hue. Once infused, the liquor is a warm amber-red, rich in natural sweetness with floral top notes and a hint of chocolate and smoke.
Effects
Royal Keemun Mao Feng is known for its clarity and calm alertness. With moderate caffeine and high levels of theanine, it offers a smooth lift that supports focus without restlessness. Ideal for slow mornings or quiet afternoon breaks.
