About Sapphire Jasmine Needle Silk Teabags

All the sophistication and elegance of a classic white Silver Needle tea with a dramatic visual twist. The mesmerising blue hue of this infusion comes from the Butterfly Pea flower. Sapphire Jasmine Needle Tea stands out with its natural sweetness, complemented by a gentle, floral aroma and subtle jasmine notes. This tea is enjoyed primarily in Southeast Asia and Africa, traditionally served with honey and lemon, which enhances its deep cobalt blue colour. A unique feature of this tea is its ability to change colour based on pH levels—a splash of lemon transforms the tea into a vibrant violet.

About Butterfly Pea

The Butterfly Pea plant, scientifically known as Clitoria ternatea, is renowned for its striking blue flowers. Today, it is found in tropical and subtropical regions worldwide and is widely used, particularly as a decorative climbing plant. In the kitchen, the flowers are often used as a natural food colouring to tint dishes and drinks in brilliant shades of blue or violet.

Cultivation & Processing

The base of this tea, our Jasmine Silver Needle, is the highest quality buds of white tea, sourced from their authentic origin in Fujian, China. The needles of tea are lain with fresh jasmine flowers as they bloom overnight and impart their sweet fragrance. This process is repeated for up to five nights for truly superb aroma and flavour.

How to Enjoy

Enjoy this unique Blue Tea at any time of the day. Its delicate, sweet flavour pairs beautifully with light, floral-inspired desserts like lavender cookies or jasmine macarons. For a refreshing twist, try it chilled with a splash of lemon (see our Iced Tea recipe here) and a hint of honey.
