About vanilla

Vanilla is a type of orchid that thrives as a climbing plant in dense jungles. It takes three years for a young vanilla plant to bloom for the first time. For the vanilla pods to develop, each vanilla blossom must be pollinated by hand. The most sought-after variety comes from Madagascar, La Réunion, and the Comoros - Bourbon vanilla. Today, about half of the world's production is from Madagascar.
