Grown Right: Why Cultivar Matters

Our most popular Matcha for hospitality is our Organic Matcha Cocktail Grade Kagoshima, shade-grown in Kagoshima, Japan, one of the country’s most celebrated tea-growing regions. We source from small-scale, pesticide-free farms cultivating a blend of Yabukita, Okumidori, Okuyutaka, and Zairai cultivars. Why does this matter? Because variety in cultivars brings complexity to flavour, and growing without chemicals ensures purity and peace of mind. For that reason, the cultivar of each of our Matcha is included in the name, along with the origin, so you can enjoy exploring all the different flavours these terroir have to offer.

Matcha isn’t just brewed, it’s consumed whole. That means freshness is everything. And yet, most cafés are unknowingly serving oxidised matcha that’s been stored improperly or left sitting on a shelf for months.
