About Japanese Sobacha
Japanese Sobacha is an infusion of roasted buckwheat from Kumamoto, Japan. It brews to a warm amber cup with pronounced toasted and nutty aromas, gentle cereal sweetness and a smooth, rounded finish. Naturally caffeine-free, it has enough depth to drink throughout the day or alongside food.
About
Sobacha is the Japanese name for an infusion made from roasted buckwheat. In Japan, it belongs to the everyday side of tea culture: a simple, welcoming drink served at home, offered to guests and commonly found in soba restaurants, including after a meal. Its warm, toasted character makes it an unassuming expression of Japanese hospitality rather than a formal tea ritual. This version comes from Kumamoto Prefecture and is produced by the same family who roast our Genmai Nikomaru.
Cultivation
After harvest, the buckwheat is carefully roasted to develop its characteristic toasted, nutty aroma and natural sweetness. This medium roast balances depth with a clean finish.
How to Enjoy
Enjoy it hot and plain to appreciate its toasted, nutty character. After brewing, the softened buckwheat can also be eaten.
