Bamboo Matcha Whisk - 100 Prongs
About Bamboo Matcha Whisk - 100 Prongs
This original hand-made bamboo matcha whisk with 100 prongs (also known as a Chasen) is your key to the traditional preparation of creamy, frothy Matcha, revered for centuries in Japanese tea ceremonies. The Chasen is skilfully carved from a single piece of bamboo that has been seasoned for up to two years. Its delicate prongs whisk the Matcha into an especially fine and even foam.
Using a Chasen in the preparation of Matcha adds a sensual and meditative dimension to the ritual. Paired with other traditional accessories such as a Matcha whisk holder, a Matcha ceramic bowl, and a Matcha spoon, you can experience the authentic Japanese art of enjoying Matcha. An essential set for tea enthusiasts who seek to unite indulgence with mindfulness.
How to use
Begin by soaking your bamboo whisk in hot water for a minute. This helps the tines soften and bloom, allowing for a smoother, finer Matcha foam while protecting the bamboo from breakage.
Sift the amount of Matcha required on the recipe into your bowl. Add 10ml of water and mix into a smooth paste, then pour in 40ml of hot water (75°C).
Whisk briskly in a quick M or W motion at the surface until a fine foam forms. Gently lift the whisk and smooth out any large bubbles. Enjoy ceremonially or with 150ml of steamed milk for a hot Matcha latte or cold milk and ice for an iced Matcha latte.
Care instructions
Rinse the whisk gently under warm water after each use to remove Matcha residue. Do not use soap or detergent. Shake off excess water and allow to air dry upright.
Avoid pressing the tines firmly against the bottom of the bowl to prevent damage.
Do not place in a dishwasher. Do not leave soaking in water for extended periods. Allow to dry completely before storing.
