Salted Maple Hojicha

 

 

The rich, roasted nature of our Organic Hojicha Powder isn't just for the autumn / winter season. In fact, it's a versatile ingredient when it calls for cold drinks, particularly those made with creamy milks or milk alternatives, and a touch of real sweetness. The pistachio-like nuttiness of this Japanese green tea powder shines through, as does those complex roasted tones, making this simple recipe an entirely indulgent and satisfying hot-weather hojicha beverage. 

 

Ingredients

  • 4.5g (3 AVANTCHA Matcha spoons)Organic Hojicha powder
  • 50ml Warm water
  • 150ml Milk of choice
  • 20ml Maple syrup
  • Pinch of flaky sea salt
  • Ice
  • Salted maple cream

For Salted Maple Cream

  • 50ml Double cream or cream alternative
  • 20ml Milk of choice
  • 15ml Maple syrup
  • Pinch of flaky sea salt

 

Directions

1. Start by making the salted maple cream: add 50ml of double cream, 20ml of milk, 15ml of maple, and pinch of salt into a mixing glass. Whisk until thick but still pourable. Keep in the fridge until ready to use.

2. Sift 3 matcha spoons of AVANTCHA Organic Hojicha Powder into bowl.

3. Add 50ml of warm water and whisk briskly until a foam forms.

4. In a tall glass, add 20ml of maple syrup, pinch of flaky salt, ice, and 150ml of milk.

5. Pour the Hojicha in to the glass.

6. Topped with salted maple cream.

7. Stir and enjoy!
